Good Morning.
Aging June 23Gold prices jumped over $2,000 per ounce last week, putting the metal within less than $100 of its all-time high set 11 years ago in 2012.  The metal tends to move higher on expectations of rising inflation.  However, after a spike higher in 2020, prices have been lackluster for the past few years.
A gold rally may continue in the months ahead, and if so, it will likely be because inflation continues to stay higher for longer.  Other factors could also boost gold, including distrust in the banking system and concerns over geopolitical events.
Investors and traders alike can continue to play this uptrend.  Gold mining stocks tend to perform better than the metal itself during a rally.

How to set boundaries … and say NO

You know, when we were younger, we were wisely taught by our parents, teachers, and law enforcement officials to say NO.  Somewhere along the lines, however, we lost our way.  We started feeling bad about saying no, and we began saying yes…to everything.  Brene Brown quote

The result?  We stretch ourselves thin by taking on anything and everything that comes our way – often reluctantly, begrudgingly, and resentfully.  This happens in our personal and professional lives, and it not only creates overwhelming (yet unnecessary) stress, it also puts tremendous strain on our relationships.

In our tireless pursuit of pleasing other, the irony is that we start resenting people – often loved ones.  In reality, it’s no fault of theirs.  It’s our own.  We never set realistic expectations, yet we expect them to understand everything that’s going on in our lives, minds, and hearts.

This is why we need to set boundaries.  We have to learn to say NO, as hard as that can be.  We have to do what is right – for us and those who are asking of us – and stop making apologies.

We have to protect our time and energy so we can invest it in the things and people that matter.  Simply put, if you want to do great things, you have to do fewer things.  When you stop taking on so much – and start saying NO – then you’ll free yourself, your mind, and your time to live up to your full potential in life.

Setting boundaries isn’t just about saying no to people.  It’s also about saying no to temptations and distractions.  It means cutting back on email, meetings, phone calls, and gossip that zap your precious time and resources.  It’s about mindfully investing your time in your priorities.

It’s time for you to put up boundaries in your life and to stop suffering in silence.  Start right now… take control!

To feeling good,
Change That Up!

Retired

As planned, Caryl went off to work early, as I contemplated my day!

As I soon found out: the tire dropped off yesterday could not be repaired.  I decided to shop for a used replacement that would match the three remaining winter tires.  Best Buddy Bill call around 9 AM, asking if I want to go for a bike ride with him.  He swung-bye around 1 in the afternoon and we left all our troubles behind.

Bill has this cool app on his iPhone that tracked our bike-route & stats.

I have added STRAVA to my iPhone as well.  I’ve added cycling to a list of healthy outdoor activities, for an active retirement lifestyle.  This was Day #10 for Bill and his goal for 30 consecutive days cycling… For me, this was day #1: and very unfortunately … no consecutive plan is at hand.  In fact, I’ll be dropping of my bike for minor adjustments and repairs.  It seems that my rear sprocket and rear axle has become unattached.

Oh well, my bum was a bit sore on my short ride.  Bill … you said … you had a gel-pad-cover for my bike seat that doesn’t fit your “high-priced” mounded one!  [Too bad, so sad … I’d be glad to put it to good use.]

Shop NowWalmart… yes Walmart…

Twenty-five pairs o’ socks, eight briefs and two golf-shirts … only the basics!

Earlier in the day I order a couple of hundred dollars worth of pants, shorts, and semi-dress shirts ONLINE from Dickies.  Nothing sensa-tional, just new, all for this Summer’s traveling wardrobe.  [I do this about twice a year … because otherwise, I would have little-to-wear.]

Lookin’ might fine!
