no secretsGood morning.
Elon Musk once tweeted, “The most entertaining outcome is the most likely outcome.”  He’s provided a number of entertaining outcomes, culminating with the offer to take Twitter (TWTR) private yesterday.
We certainly seem to live in a world where the most entertaining outcome succeeds where more obvious outcomes don’t come to pass.  That could be a part of our human need to create narratives and stories that often seem to defy facts.  Or maybe it’s just because we’re living in a simulation, another theory that Musk has discussed.
Investors should prepare for such outcomes, even if they’re more extreme, going forward.  That means the explosion of life-changing technology trends in the next few years.  And while it may mean some volatility along the way, looking for the most entertaining outcome has led Musk to become the world’s wealthiest man.  This may be a case of “if you can’t beat ‘em, join ‘em.”

Vaccines-VS-Current-EventsGood morning.
Typically, April 15th is the day taxes from the prior year are due. 2021, like 2020, has seen a delay in payment.  Add in extensions, and you can float your payment to Uncle Sam for a year well into the autumn of the next.
Tax talk hasn’t been too big in the past year.  For those on the upward part of the K-shaped recovery, it’s been withheld from their jobs as it’s been made.  For those on the lower end, there’s been less made to tax, or even the lower tax rates on unemployment benefits.  At some point, however, a recovering economy and a federal and state governments looking for revenue will want to make some changes.  This year, you have another month to fund an IRA or Roth IRA, to keep a little less out of the government’s hands.

I'm a professional fakeGood morning.
Wow!  Who would have thought the market would surge higher on disappointing earnings from J.P. Morgan (JPM) and Wells Fargo (WFC)?  I could understand it more if they moved higher themselves, but they didn’t.  JPM was 2.74% lower on the session.
With the lack of real participation by the hanks in the policies being implemented by the Federal Government and the Federal Reserve, does this mean they are irrelevant and a kind of bank-ing utility?  Time will tell, but it was interesting to see what unfolded on Tuesday.

The Wall Street Journey reported this week that bankruptcies are expected to soar in the coming months, because of the way our economy has been completely disrupted since late March.  We believe this virus will eventually pass … and that there’s an even bigger long-term story that’s going to have a massive impact on you and your money over the next few years.

In short: It’s a terrifying new trend (for some) that is creating thousands of new millionaires (Barron’s estimates 20,000 to 200,000 so far) while at the same time destroying the financial future for many others.

1989 — Sadly, in Sheffield, England, 96 people were killed and hundreds were injured at a soccer game at Hillsborough Stadium when a crowd surged into an overcrowded standing area.  Ninety-four died on the day of the incident and two more later died from their injuries.
