Good morning.
As we near the end of the first half of the year, funds may start to buy shares of companies that have performed well, and dump shares of poor performers. This practice, dubbed “window dressing” is common. But it could also lead to some more market volatility.
We’ve already noted that markets have been calm lately, even after a slight selloff in the past few days. There are also signs that hedge funds are de-risking following the market’s move higher in the past few weeks, which could lead to some heightened volatility in the weeks ahead.
Traders should wait for a bigger move in the market to capitalize on it. That includes buying stocks that get beaten down. But it could also mean getting ahead of a further move lower by buying put options now, while the premiums are still low – then selling once those premiums rise.

As a banker and economist, I am riveted by the expeditious demise of Silicon Valley Bank and other institutions. Were these crashes due to bank mismanagement, as many pundits as well as regulators have posited? Or were they… [Read Here]

Good morning.
Last week, the Federal Reserve noted that there was a “real imbalance” in wage bargaining. And that raising interest rates to slow down the overheating economy would do much to rebalance that situation. More importantly, the past few weeks have seen a number of companies announce layoffs and workplace reductions.
These rising job losses are showing that the economy is in a recessionary stance. Traders need to remain cautious. But as companies reduce their headcount and costs go down, they’re setting up to be more profitable on the next economic upswing. That leaves plenty of trading opportunities on the long and short side of the market for months to come.

History may not repeat itself, but it does rhyme. In 1994, the economy was showing rapid growth and signs of higher inflation. Back then, the Fed was willing to quickly raise interest rates. Now, with similar signs of growth and inflation, the Fed is talking about potentially raising rates in about 18 months. And it’s buying billions of dollars of bonds each month, something the bank wasn’t doing in the early 1990s.
In other words, we may have seen this exact scenario before. While the Fed’s policy in the 1990s eventually became accommodative and helped fuel the tech bubble, at the time, raising rates allowed inflation to fall. Time will tell if inflation rates slow on their own as the economy reopens and fiscal stimulus comes to an end, but the prospect of higher inflation will likely continue to weigh on markets.

Even before COVID, Intel apologized in November to its customers and partners regarding the delays they were having in their business. In an industry that is centered on just-in-time delivery, it doesn’t bode well when you’re late. For a company that has been the leader for so long, manufacturing delays and the fact their behind ADM on 7nm microchips is a huge deal.

P.S. How do we meet people virtually?
The same way we meet people in person. However, because we don’t have the person-to-person body language and visual connection, our words will have to be more powerful.
What should we say? How should we do this? Here’s the book that explains each step.

In less than one week, half the year will be behind us … what are you going to get done this week?
It’s like a party gone bad …
You’ve already been through your warm market …
They want VERY LITTLE to do with you …
They want absolutely NOTHING to do with your business …
Maybe you’re lucky and this is your first rodeo but still after a couple months of recruiting hard …
You simply run out of your friends and family.
You’ve got to keep going. You’ve got to find new people to do it (your business, that is) or you’ll fail. It’s pretty dang simple to understand.
You know you’re awesome and you know you’re incredible because I tell you that all the time. God has put you here for a reason. It’s just time we took you to an entirely different level.
What is behind Door #1 is great… [Tomorrow we’ll examine door #2]
That would probably be very good for you. Remember, on Facebook people hang in groups, not a lot different than in the real world. You need to find a target market or target customer that you’ll be going after time after time. Why?
Because then you can serve them and be really good at closing them. How do you make a good post on Facebook if you have NO IDEA who you’re posting to? Yes, EXACTLY!
Anyhow, figure out how to find people to talk to…
Talk with you soon,

Friendships can lead to good working relationships.
I must share this quick “Friends!” story.
Two friends were walking through a dense jungle. Knowing the dangers, they promised to stick together whatever happened.
Suddenly a tiger appeared in the bushes. One friend immediately turned and ran, climbing up a tree and leaving his companion behind. He watched as his friend dropped to the ground and played dead.
The tiger approached, sniffed around, and leaned down, seemingly whispering something in the man’s ear. It roared once, then stalked away. Feeling ashamed, the other man climbed back down the tree. “What did the tiger say to you?”
The man looked up. “He said, ‘Never trust a false friend.”‘
Some days, you just need to know you have got a friend.
The point is you need to feel that someone “gets” you and is in your corner. With all the push, pull and tug that can go on in the workplace (and it happens everywhere, folks, even at the good places), you have to develop your own support systems — and friends can be invaluable. Good ones are like rocks; they keep us anchored during our personal storms.
You probably spend most of your waking hours at work, so friendships are natural. Working together can easily turn co-workers into best friends, making jobs more enjoyable and the workplace a home away from home instead of just away to make a living.
